Finding Inspiration Anywhere
Hey y'all! Kelli, here from SimplyLife.Images by Kelli.
I photograph everything from macro, children laughing, sleeping kitties, products... to anything I can find in or around my yard.
I photograph everything from macro, children laughing, sleeping kitties, products... to anything I can find in or around my yard.
But, I also like to photograph a woman with her babies...
And, a beautiful couple with exciting news to announce...
But there is what really fuels my passion - my inspiration, being creative in my own way...
I find inspiration everywhere I go. My family is where I find most of it... It's personal. I capture the details in my life so that I can capture the details for others.
Here are my "tips" to finding inspiration:
Tip #1 - If you think it's worth documenting, then do it!
I can't tell you how happy I am with my own images because I am just clicking away. I don't care about the technical side of things... I just click. Here's a recent outing my family and I had at the beach and a simple game of Monopoly.
Tip #2 - Don't be afraid to try new things!
Trying new things can lead to finding out that you actually love creating images that certain way.
Back Button Focus was something I decided to look up and try. I am so happy I did! It's so easy to find focus and it's sharp, fast, and consistent!
Freelensing - a technique in which the lens is not attached to the camera.
I am not very good at it (yet), but I'm trying ;)
Reflective Objects - It's exactly as it sounds. For this photo (below) I used my cell phone's screen to create a reflection.
Big Blue Sky - I'm not sure if there's a 'technical' name for this but I've seen it done and wanted to try myself. I finally found a location that could help me achieve the look and let me tell you... I love it!
Tip #3 - Food, Food, Food.
Food is something I love to photograph. It's almost a perfect subject. It doesn't move (lol). Natural light is the only way I can photograph a dish, because a flash ALWAYS ruins the image for me.
Tip #4 - Go For a Walk.
You'll never believe how many of photographs are taken from my own yard. Inspiration is everywhere. Beautiful things are everywhere. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder", right?
Go outside and explore.
Tip #5 (and the most important one) - Don't Care About What Others Might Think.
I can't express this enough, and yet it's something I'm still learning. Everyone wants their images to be 'liked', but when they're not...it's a let down.
Stop that! Don't shoot for others... Shoot for yourself. It'll bring you more peace than you think.
Thanks for stopping by! Please feel free to include a tip or 2 in the comments! I'm always looking for new things and/or inspiration!
~Kelli
