Travel Blog: Denver, CO

In the 10 (almost 11) years we've been together, my husband and I never had a 'real' vacation together. We changed that this year! For our first vacation ("honeymoon") we traveled to Denver, CO!

Traveling was as you'd expect it to be... a lot of hurrying to wait in long lines. A lot of waiting in long lines to be stuffed into your plane's seat and to truly understand what it feels like to be a sardine. But we knew it would be worth it... frustrating, uncomfortable, and sometimes infuriating... but absolutely worth it!

Our flight to Denver had a stop in Dallas/Ft. Worth.

DFW had the most unique stores/places inside the airport (like a Yoga studio!), and the most expensive I've seen in an airport!
But, I ran into this candy store that reminded me of being a kid and going to the mall's candy store.

We had a 3 hour layover, so we did what anyone would do... Play video games ;)

Then it was wheels up! We arrived in Denver at night, so we went straight to our hotel. Even though this was a vacation, I still had to work 1/2 days (which surprisingly, didn't damper any of our plans!). So, the next morning I was at it...

We were both so excited, to be on vacation, that he woke up just as early as I did which made the morning longer for him waiting for me to finish working.

We stayed outside of Denver, in Aurora, and although the views were of the Interstate... the morning sunrise was still beautiful coming through our blinds...

Sometimes, traveling can be difficult! Especially if you have a piece of crap rental car. Yeah, that's right... I said it. We had a little Ford Fiesta... the basic model. I could literally, put the pedal to the floor, and it was like the little engine that.... could(n't)! 😂  The best part was having to stop on an incline of the mountain drive and then trying to gain stamina again. 😂 So, yeah... nope. No photos of the car. Funny story... Someone stole the license plate from the rental car.  WHO does that?!

The worst part about traveling... GOING HOME! You know when it's time. You know when you've reached your limit and you miss your family/kids. But you dread leaving. In our case, check out was 11am. Rental due at 2pm. Flight at 11:59pm 😕 So, what the heck do we do for 9 hours before you can board the plane?! A whole lot of people watching, plane spotting, exploration of the airport, drinks, and more video games! Luckily Denver airport didn't disappoint with the exploration! Tons of art through out the concourses. Denver, CO is just beautiful!

As for the people watching and plane spotting...

Another perk of traveling (for a photographer) is the views you get from the inside the plane.

The best part of traveling for me.... Making your kids' face light up when they see you at the airport. That one, in the orange tank top... that one's mine! 💓
